JANUARY FOURTEENTH TWENTY-TWENTY-FOUR

Negative and windy. I always wish for snow but I guess I got the other two as a consulation prize. The snow at these conditions turns squeeky. Even the world complains when you go outside. I am the first tenant in these new apartments but even the forefront of construction has done little to impress my cold feet. I leave out glasses of water in my different rooms as a thermometer. The apartment has been above freezing. The high today, was -8.
With frigid weather comes resolutions, naturally. I wouldn't say I have resolved to do anything longer than the end of the January, but I am hopeful that in that time I manifest some good habits.
I am half way through a Dry January. It isn't uncommon for me to abstain from something for a month at a time. This month, alcohol, nicotine, porn. I usually give coffee a kick as well, but it has gotten the pass.
For this glorious year though I will do something every weekend. My ass out doing something.
The first weekend was Galloping Ghost. The largest arcade in the world. There was this gorgeous redhead I couldn't stop admiring. I think having not looked at a woman's form in 6 days left me willing to creep the fuck out. I walked through cramped cabinets I had already perused to hopefully look at her again. She was very pretty.
But that wasn't the only thing one could lay their eyes on. There are so many games there. I spent 3 hours walking around playing only a fraction of the games they had.
The second, was The Lizzadro. A museum for Lapidary. The polishing and engraving of stone. I went with an open mind. It rocked. I would take friends that visit me there. Leaving that place I stopped in Downer's Grove and warmed myself up in the cute odd stores they had. Postcard shop. Toy shop. Game Shop. Card shop. Book shop. Craft coffee shop. Record Shop. All these places personal and warm and the floors minature oceans. Icebergs borrowed from the shoes of customers.
I had had some nicotine and a few drinks that Friday. I got off work early because of the horrible storm that came in. I don't feel too bad about breaking my dry spell. I have jumped right back into abstinence without a hinch.
I finished Blood Meridian in a week. It was a very difficult book. Every piece of writing since has felt childish and not very well put together.
Thank you much,
